Cashback Roaring

This Chinese New Year, our Retail Partners were very excited about the return of the most anticipated promotion – Caltex’s Shopee Cashback campaign.

Back in Pen Petroleum’s office, we were equally thrilled by the campaign. As many other Caltex customers out there, we loved cashback. The very first Caltex Cashback Promotion held in November 2020 / March 2021 was still a heat topic of discussion until today.

Learning from the past experience, Pen Petroleum produced a quick tutorial video to demonstrate how to purchase the cashback voucher from Shopee. With this video, our Retail Partners and station staff can understand the mechanism pretty easily. They can also share the video to their customer, family and friends. The aim is to create the viral effect to drive the exciting promotion to a higher level.

Rancak CaltexGo!

Setelah kian lama ditunggu, akhirnya CaltexGo menjejak kaki ke kawasan Utara!

Pada hari yang pertama aplikasi CaltexGo dilancarkan (soft launch) di kawasan utara Malaysia, pasukan runcit kami telah turun padang ke 13 stesen terpilih di Kedah, Perlis dan Pulau Pinang untuk memerhatikan respon para Rakan Niaga sekalian. Seperti biasa, setiap kali sesuatu aktiviti atau program baru diperkenalkan, Rakan Niaga kami perlukan panduan dan latihan yang secukupnya untuk menguasai mekanisma-mekanisma yang ditetapkan oleh pihak Chevron. Objektif kami melawat ke stesen adalah untuk menggalakkan penggunaan CaltexGo dan mengumpul ulasan-ulasan penggunaan CaltexGo oleh pihak stesen.

Di stesen, pertama sekali, RBC kami memastikan semua pekerja termasuk Rakan Niaga, Pengurus Stesen, Juruwang dan CSR memuat turun aplikasi CaltexGo dalam telefon bimbit masing-masing, diikuti dengan pendaftaran akaun, pendaftaran BCard dan kad kredit/debit. Sebagai wakil pemasar Caltex yang akan menjadi peneraju utama dalam penggunaan CaltexGo, para pekerja di stesen mestilah memainkan peranan sendiri, iaitu memahami cara penggunaan aplikasi CaltexGo.

 

 

Pada permulaannya, memang menjadi cabaran bagi ramai Rakan Niaga dan para pekerja sekalian. Kekangan-kekangan yang dihadapi termasuklah masalah teknikal aplikasi, gangguan liputan internet, keengganan pelanggan untuk mengenali CaltexGo, dan sebagainya. Pasukan kami terus memberikan bantuan dan kerja koordinasi yang diperlukan oleh para Rakan Niaga sekalian, dengan sokongan dari pasukan Chevron.

Kami teruskan pantauan yang berterusan di stesen-stesen rangkaian Pen Petroleum pada minggu-minggu yang seterusnya. Kami turut tetapkan matlamat ‘5 transaksi sehari’ bagi setiap stesen pada peringkat awal untuk menggalakkan penggunaan CaltexGo. Setelah 1 bulan pelancaran CaltexGo, kami dapati bahawa Rakan Niaga kami semakin aktif mempromosikan CaltexGo kepada para pelanggan.

Pasukan kami juga sedang merancangkan program sampingan CaltexGo yang akan dimulakan pada masa terdekat ini. Ianya pasti akan meriuhkan lagi suasana di sekitar stesen-stesen Caltex kami di kawasan Utara…

Keeping up the competitiveness is crucial, as our rivals in petrol station industry is getting more aggressive day by day.  Competition inevitably comes from all angles in all forms. Importantly we do the basics right, provide the best service at all times to our customers.

Pen Petroleum reviews our business plans from time to time to ensure that our direction suits the market and industry trend. In this business, we always have to pre-plan, re-plan, and plan for the unplanned. Let me share with you Pen Petroleum’s refreshed platform for the next 5 years: “Wow! 7 StarCards In A Year #Mantap!

Yih Langat Sdn Bhd in Simpang Ampat, Penang has went much beyond the tagline – this station successfully signed up 7 new StarCards customers within 2021. We interviewed the Station Manager, Ms. Ivy Tan to know more on their fruitful StarCard journey.

 

Q: How StarCard has benefited station?

A: StarCard helped us to reduce a lot of administrative work as well as hassles such as chasing for payment. At our station, StarCard also contributed to increase in diesel sales.

 

Q: You signed up 7  new customers this year! Share with us the tips in soliciting new StarCard customers.

A: Firstly, we need to understand the product feature. StarCard is a very useful fleet that has a lot of features that will benefit the customers. We share with our customers the advantages of StarCard, such as the availability of systematic documentation and statement, which certainly could help our customers to ease their fleet management, especially those with minimal manpower. Other than that, we also try to be proactive in searching for potential customers. For instance, we will drop by at nearby construction areas to reach out to the contractors to do solicitation. Sometimes, customers will walk in or come to us by words of mouth. I would attribute this to our good customer service at station.

 

Q: What is customers’ feedback on StarCard?

A: Customers love the rebates. They enjoyed savings from the usage. Additionally, they felt that the fleet control and management is so much easier after using StarCard. Everything is automated.

 

Q: Does Pen and Chevron team assist you in driving StarCard? If yes, how?

A: Sure, Mr. Khairil Jamal (KJ) from Pen Petroleum, our Retail Business Consultant from Pen Petroleum is our strong support. He guided us from day 1 of our journey. He joined in the meetings with our customers, engaged them to understand their needs. KJ also helped us to ensure that our submissions are timely and smooth. On the other hand, Ms. Gan from Chevron has been very helpful in guiding us on the rebates offer. She was dedicated to answer all our questions.

 

Q: Local account vs StarCard – what’s your view?

A: We appreciate both groups of customers. However, it is undeniable that it is not easy to chase for the payment from local account customers. It involves manpower and a lot of monitoring. StarCard helped to ease the hassle so we can focus in driving our sales.

 

Q: Which industry your StarCard customers are from?

A: They are mainly the transporter, ‘lori tanah’ and factory.

Peraduan Pameran Batmobile #Batmobile Level Up!

Bagi memeriahkan lagi promosi nasional Batmobile yang dianjurkan oleh pihak Chevron, Pen Petroleum telah mengelolakan Peraduan Pameran Batmobile pada bulan Oktober yang lalu.

Dalam peraduan ini, stesen-stesen bersaing untuk menonjolkan diri dengan memasang perhiasan-perhiasan bertema Batman yang amat kreatif. Setelah hiasan tersebut dipasang, suasana stesen amat memberangsangkan, ia menaikkan lagi semangat kakitangan untuk menjalankan promosi Batmobile.

Persaingan di antara stesen-stesen begitu sengit. Pihak juri yang terdiri daripada warga Pen Petroleum dan Chevron Malaysia mempunyai pendapat yang berlainan dalam pemilihan para pemenang.

Wow! The 5-Star Washroom!

You may be familiar with the following scenario:

You were driving half way and wanted to use a washroom. You saw a Petrol Station A, which is only 200 meters away from your location. But you were reluctant to stop by. You preferred to visit Petrol Station B instead, which is 2 kilometers farer. Why is that so? Because, just like many others, you love a comfortable washroom experience!

In Dungun, Terengganu, H.A.A Bunga Raya is flocked with happy customers who come purposely for the 5-star washroom. The station’s washroom is built in a special architectural design, combining the Terengganu traditional elements and modernized building feature.

Retail Partner, Mr. Azmi Bin Ahmad, shared with us that his priority is to provide the best customer service to his customers. “When you provide a clean and comfortable place, people will come automatically.” The station’s washroom had went viral on the social media when a satisfied customer shared her joyful experience at H.A.A Bunga Raya, complimenting the uniqueness and cleanliness of the washroom and surau provided at this station.

   

   

 

Whereas in Kuala Selangor, the Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor has decided to award JS Stesen Sdn Bhd the Champion in the Cleanest Washroom Competition 2021, under the Petrol Station category.

When asked what the tips of maintaining a clean washroom are, here is the sharing from the Station Manager, Mr. Isaac Tan. “You have to do the cleaning work before peak hours. Cleaning work does not only cover restrooms, it also includes other visible areas such as driveways etc. Trash has to be quickly cleaned up. When the customer sees the clean environment, he or she certainly will think twice before littering. That helps.”

 

   

“The feedback and review from the customers really motivate me. I am determined to maintain such momentum and continue to do our best,” said Isaac.

Undeniably, washroom is one of the most essential facilities of a petrol station. The condition of the station’s washroom goes to tell how much a station owner wishes to welcome his customer.
