Jom Bersama-sama CORO 2022

In February-April, we held a dialogue session known as the “Jom Bersama-sama CORO” with our CORO Dealers.

This round, we made the dialogue sessions in a smaller group set up, with 2 to 5 Dealers in a session. In total, we managed to host 7 sessions to get in touch with our CORO Dealers.

In the Jom Bersama-sama session, which was held virtually, our Deputy Group General Manager, Saw Mei Yee laid down Pen Petroleum’s expectations and directions in 2022. She also shared the insights on the business, urging our Dealers to raise the performance standard to stay competitive in this challenging environment. For Pen Petroleum, every CORO sites must achieve profitable growth, as we have invested heftily in acquiring, managing and maintaining the stations. It is crucial for our Dealers to drive the sales whole heartedly to achieve a win-win situation.

Jom Bersama-sama also serves as a platform for our Dealers to provide feedback on Chevron and Pen Petroleum’s programs. We gathered that majority of our CORO Dealers liked the ShopeePay promotion the most, followed by Batmobile promotion.

We truly appreciate the Dealers who made the effort to attend this meaningful session with us. Your commitment is what we look forward and look up to.

Wira Caltex

Kakitangan stesen adalah aset kami yang amat dihargai. Tanpa sokongan daripada pihak staf yang berdedikasi, sesebuah stesen tersebut tidak akan mendapat pencapaian yang baik walaupun mempunyai peralatan atau fasiliti yang ‘tip-top’.

Pihak kami percaya bahawa program Wira Caltex adalah satu program yang amat bermakna di mana ianya begitu eksklusif kepada kakitangan Caltex sahaja.

Dengan besar hatinya kami ingin berkongsi bahawa seramai 156 orang pekerja di stesen-stesen rangkaian Pen Petroleum telah muncul sebagai pemenang Wira Caltex pada fasa pra-pendaftaran.

Tahniah kami ucapkan kepada mereka yang menang. Semoga anda terus bermaju jaya bersama dengan Caltex. Terima kasih kerana menjadi Wira Caltex yang membanggakan kami.

Program Agihan Bubur Lambuk 2022

#KitaKanJiran

Ini adalah tahun ketiga Pen Petroleum menganjurkan Program Agihan Bubur Lambuk pada bulan Ramadhan. Seperti tahun-tahun yang lepas, program ini disambut baik oleh para Rakan Niaga tanpa mengira bangsa dan agama.

Objektif agihan bubur lambuk adalah untuk menjangkau kepada komuniti tempatan. Program ini merupakan salah satu saluran untuk menunjukkan tanda penghargaan terhadap para pelanggan Caltex kami. #KitaKanJiran

Sebanyak 19 stesen dari Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Selangor dan Pahang telah mengambil bahagian dalam program agihan bubur lambuk ini. Pihak Rakan Niaga akan menyediakan bubur lambuk manakala pihak Pen Petroleum akan menajakan barangan-barangan percuma untuk dihadiahkan kepada pelanggan.

Tahun ini, program bubur lambuk dimeriahkan lagi dengan penglibatan aplikasi CaltexGO. Selaras dengan program nasional CaltexGO Cashback, mana-mana pelanggan yang memuat turun aplikasi CaltexGO dan belanja RM20 dengan CaltexGO di stesen, mereka akan menerima satu beg hadiah yang mengandungi bubur lambuk, minuman dan snek tajaan para vendor Xpress Point seperti Sunkist, Wonda dan kaw-kaw.

Di samping itu, pihak Chevron turut memberi sokongan penuh dengan menajakan edisi Batmobile terbaru dan Kad Journey (pra-kredit) untuk edaran percuma selaras dengan program agihan bubur lambuk ini. Perkara ini telah banyak menaikkan semangat Rakan Niaga kami. Terima kasih tidak terhingga daripada pihak Pen.

Dalam sebulan ini, stesen-stesen yang terlibat telah merekodkan 483 muat turun dan transaksi pertama CaltexGo, disertai dengan pendaftaran Kad Journey sebanyak 884 keping. Syabas dan tahniah!

Pihak Pen Petroleum mengambil kesempatan untuk mengucapkan sekalung-kalung tingginya terima kasih kepada semua pihak yang menjayakan program ini. Semoga legasi yang amat bermakna ini dapat lagi disambungkan pada tahun-tahun yang akan datang.

Announcement of Top 50 Retailers : BAT Sell-In Program

Cigarette is one of the most fast selling items in our Xpress Point Stores. Xpress Point collaborated with Commercial Marketers and Distributors Sdn Bhd (“BAT”) to launch a ‘Sell-In Program’ exclusively for our Xpress Point Retail Partners. The objective of the program is to boost the store sales during the recovery period of the pandemic.

Top 50 performing stores with the highest absolute total BAT volume growth and the highest % total BAT volume growth (vs target) will be rewarded with RM200 per store.

“Tak Kenal, Maka Tak Cinta”

I remember vividly, that was the time when Chevron first collaborated with Shopee to launch the RM4 Cashback promotion. As usual, that was a compulsory marketing program for all Caltex retailers to join. Stations were required to first sign up the eWallet program before they are able to execute any eWallet promotion, such as the Caltex-Shopee Cashback program.

The first thought that came to my mind was this: “How to make the rural areas sites participate in this together? Can they accept that eWallet is now the trend, and will become popular even outside the urban? Are they willing to learn and pick up this new trend?” I know that was going to be my real challenge.

I visited a few rural sites. As predicted, they were reluctant to embrace digitalization. They said, ‘kami stesen kampung saja, jarang-jarang orang pakai eWallet’ (We are in a rural area, no one is keen to use the eWallet). These stations did not realize the importance of eWallet towards all business these day, especially the fact that during the pandemic, customers prefer cashless transactions to avoid direct contact.

I urged them to comply, no excuse. I started with getting them to unbox, charge and turn on the payment terminal (yes, they even left the paid payment terminal in the store untouched!). I tried a few low amount transactions to test if the terminal was working with no error. Then I demonstrated how to perform a ShopeePay transaction. I made them look, follow, repeat & repeat. After a few rounds of on-site sessions with them, they started using eWallet in a proactive manner. By learning the benefits of eWallet transactions, they started to develop the motivation to drive the ShopeePay campaign. They also enjoyed educating their customer from the rural trading areas. Customers learned this new trend from them and returned to their station to refuel.

Later, to my surprise, these Retailers become even more aggressive than the city area sites Retailers in the eWallet transactions! Now, they would come asking me, “Hey, Ong, when will be the next eWallet campaign?”

A Malay proverb goes, ‘Tak Kenal, Maka Tak Cinta’. It means literally as ‘not knowing, hence not loving’. I think this applies to what I’ve witnessed. Once the Retailers learned about it, they will embrace it. Thus, we as the RBC play a vital role to guide the Retailers, to arouse their interest and to celebrate the success and fun together. Turning around rural station Retailer’s mindset towards the modernization is never easy, but it is not impossible. I was very pleased to see the Retailers’ progress.

Cashback Roaring

This Chinese New Year, our Retail Partners were very excited about the return of the most anticipated promotion – Caltex’s Shopee Cashback campaign.

Back in Pen Petroleum’s office, we were equally thrilled by the campaign. As many other Caltex customers out there, we loved cashback. The very first Caltex Cashback Promotion held in November 2020 / March 2021 was still a heat topic of discussion until today.

Learning from the past experience, Pen Petroleum produced a quick tutorial video to demonstrate how to purchase the cashback voucher from Shopee. With this video, our Retail Partners and station staff can understand the mechanism pretty easily. They can also share the video to their customer, family and friends. The aim is to create the viral effect to drive the exciting promotion to a higher level.

Rancak CaltexGo!

Setelah kian lama ditunggu, akhirnya CaltexGo menjejak kaki ke kawasan Utara!

Pada hari yang pertama aplikasi CaltexGo dilancarkan (soft launch) di kawasan utara Malaysia, pasukan runcit kami telah turun padang ke 13 stesen terpilih di Kedah, Perlis dan Pulau Pinang untuk memerhatikan respon para Rakan Niaga sekalian. Seperti biasa, setiap kali sesuatu aktiviti atau program baru diperkenalkan, Rakan Niaga kami perlukan panduan dan latihan yang secukupnya untuk menguasai mekanisma-mekanisma yang ditetapkan oleh pihak Chevron. Objektif kami melawat ke stesen adalah untuk menggalakkan penggunaan CaltexGo dan mengumpul ulasan-ulasan penggunaan CaltexGo oleh pihak stesen.

Di stesen, pertama sekali, RBC kami memastikan semua pekerja termasuk Rakan Niaga, Pengurus Stesen, Juruwang dan CSR memuat turun aplikasi CaltexGo dalam telefon bimbit masing-masing, diikuti dengan pendaftaran akaun, pendaftaran BCard dan kad kredit/debit. Sebagai wakil pemasar Caltex yang akan menjadi peneraju utama dalam penggunaan CaltexGo, para pekerja di stesen mestilah memainkan peranan sendiri, iaitu memahami cara penggunaan aplikasi CaltexGo.

 

 

Pada permulaannya, memang menjadi cabaran bagi ramai Rakan Niaga dan para pekerja sekalian. Kekangan-kekangan yang dihadapi termasuklah masalah teknikal aplikasi, gangguan liputan internet, keengganan pelanggan untuk mengenali CaltexGo, dan sebagainya. Pasukan kami terus memberikan bantuan dan kerja koordinasi yang diperlukan oleh para Rakan Niaga sekalian, dengan sokongan dari pasukan Chevron.

Kami teruskan pantauan yang berterusan di stesen-stesen rangkaian Pen Petroleum pada minggu-minggu yang seterusnya. Kami turut tetapkan matlamat ‘5 transaksi sehari’ bagi setiap stesen pada peringkat awal untuk menggalakkan penggunaan CaltexGo. Setelah 1 bulan pelancaran CaltexGo, kami dapati bahawa Rakan Niaga kami semakin aktif mempromosikan CaltexGo kepada para pelanggan.

Pasukan kami juga sedang merancangkan program sampingan CaltexGo yang akan dimulakan pada masa terdekat ini. Ianya pasti akan meriuhkan lagi suasana di sekitar stesen-stesen Caltex kami di kawasan Utara…

Peraduan Pameran Batmobile #Batmobile Level Up!

Bagi memeriahkan lagi promosi nasional Batmobile yang dianjurkan oleh pihak Chevron, Pen Petroleum telah mengelolakan Peraduan Pameran Batmobile pada bulan Oktober yang lalu.

Dalam peraduan ini, stesen-stesen bersaing untuk menonjolkan diri dengan memasang perhiasan-perhiasan bertema Batman yang amat kreatif. Setelah hiasan tersebut dipasang, suasana stesen amat memberangsangkan, ia menaikkan lagi semangat kakitangan untuk menjalankan promosi Batmobile.

Persaingan di antara stesen-stesen begitu sengit. Pihak juri yang terdiri daripada warga Pen Petroleum dan Chevron Malaysia mempunyai pendapat yang berlainan dalam pemilihan para pemenang.

Akhirnya, pemenang-pemenang Kategori A dan Kategori B peraduan ini telah diputuskan seperti berikut:

Jom Kibar Jalur Gemilang Bersama Caltex

In conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2021, Pen Petroleum and Xpress Point launched the program themed “Jom Kibar Jalur Gemilang Bersama Caltex” across our network. The Caltex stations which spearheaded this program include AA&T Resources Sdn Bhd, Adri Emas Sdn Bhd, Pen Harmoni Sdn Bhd, Yun Sinar Bahagia Enterprise, CF Service Station and Mayang Mass Trading, and we are glad to know that more and more Caltex stations are joining us in this campaign!

Under this program, the stations put up lively and attractive Jalur Gemilang inspired decorations in their mart and forecourt. Each station’s decorations are unique and creative. KUDOS to the talented Retail Partners and staffs! We trust that by creating such a patriotic ambience in our stations, we can lift up the ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ spirit amongst the local community in celebrating this meaningful month with us while battling the pandemic.

We also distributed 200 candy flags and 100 packets of wet tissue to each station for them to give away to customers. At certain sites, we also give out complimentary flags to customers who pumped at our Caltex station.
