7 StarCards In A Year #Mantap!

Yih Langat Sdn Bhd in Simpang Ampat, Penang has went much beyond the tagline – this station successfully signed up 7 new StarCards customers within 2021. We interviewed the Station Manager, Ms. Ivy Tan to know more on their fruitful StarCard journey.

 

Q: How StarCard has benefited station?

A: StarCard helped us to reduce a lot of administrative work as well as hassles such as chasing for payment. At our station, StarCard also contributed to increase in diesel sales.

 

Q: You signed up 7  new customers this year! Share with us the tips in soliciting new StarCard customers.

A: Firstly, we need to understand the product feature. StarCard is a very useful fleet that has a lot of features that will benefit the customers. We share with our customers the advantages of StarCard, such as the availability of systematic documentation and statement, which certainly could help our customers to ease their fleet management, especially those with minimal manpower. Other than that, we also try to be proactive in searching for potential customers. For instance, we will drop by at nearby construction areas to reach out to the contractors to do solicitation. Sometimes, customers will walk in or come to us by words of mouth. I would attribute this to our good customer service at station.

 

Q: What is customers’ feedback on StarCard?

A: Customers love the rebates. They enjoyed savings from the usage. Additionally, they felt that the fleet control and management is so much easier after using StarCard. Everything is automated.

 

Q: Does Pen and Chevron team assist you in driving StarCard? If yes, how?

A: Sure, Mr. Khairil Jamal (KJ) from Pen Petroleum, our Retail Business Consultant from Pen Petroleum is our strong support. He guided us from day 1 of our journey. He joined in the meetings with our customers, engaged them to understand their needs. KJ also helped us to ensure that our submissions are timely and smooth. On the other hand, Ms. Gan from Chevron has been very helpful in guiding us on the rebates offer. She was dedicated to answer all our questions.

 

Q: Local account vs StarCard – what’s your view?

A: We appreciate both groups of customers. However, it is undeniable that it is not easy to chase for the payment from local account customers. It involves manpower and a lot of monitoring. StarCard helped to ease the hassle so we can focus in driving our sales.

 

Q: Which industry your StarCard customers are from?

A: They are mainly the transporter, ‘lori tanah’ and factory.

StarCard adalah salah satu cabang bagi sesebuah stesen Caltex untuk menjana pertumbuhan jualan secara berkesan dan berterusan. Ini disebabkan ia mendapat sokongan daripada syarikat SME dan pengangkutan besar kepada stesen dalam segmen StarCard ini.

Pada tahun 2020, kelompok pelanggan StarCard di bawah stesen-stesen rangkaian kami menyumbangkan hampir 395 ribu liter jualan. Kami mengkaji semula dan telah mengenal pasti faktor-faktor yang boleh menambahbaik prestasi StarCard kami.

Pada tahun 2021 (sehingga bulan Jun), sebanyak 24 permohonan baru Starcard telah diterima dan diluluskan, iaitu hampir 100% kadar kelulusan). “Apa yang menggembirakan kami adalah, selain daripada pelanggan StarCard yang sedia ada, kelompok pelanggan StarCard baru ini telah menyumbangkan sebanyak hampir 107 ribu liter jualan kepada stesen-stesen kami. Ini membawa kepada pertumbuhan jualan sebanyak 52% berbanding dengan jualan keseluruhan tahun 2020,” ujar wakil pasukan runcit Pen Petroleum, Encik Khairil Jamal (KJ). “Oleh itu, saya berharap semua stesen dapat melihat potensi dari segmen StarCard ini. Ianya dapat membantu pertumbuhan jualan di stesen anda secara berkesan dan berkesinambungan (effective and sustainable).”

Pada bulan Julai yang lepas, pasukan runcit kami telah mengadakan 4 sesi latihan ulangkaji StarCard (StarCard Refresher Training) yang eksklusif kepada Rakan Niaga Pen Petroleum. Sesi-sesi tersebut disambut hangat oleh sebanyak 68 stesen dari kawasan Utara, Tengah & Selatan dan Pantai Timur. Kami mengambil kesempatan ini untuk mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih kepada pasukan StarCard dari Chevron Malaysia khasnya Cik Gan, Encik Andy dan Cik Ivy kerana menyokong penuh sesi-sesi latihan ini.

Kami ingin menyeru para Rakan Niaga untuk berusaha dalam menarik pelanggan StarCard. Bagi mereka yang belum cuba, jangan khuatir. Jom tetapkan sasaran yang praktikal iaitu “4 StarCard dalam tahun 2021”. Kami percaya bahawa informasi dan latihan yang disediakan seperti di atas dapat memanfaatkan para Rakan Niaga. StarCard Ambassador

Mason Enterprise Sdn Bhd has just started their business in September 2019. We are pleased to know that this station has successfully signed up 3 StarCard customers (all of which have been approved by Chevron) within 5 months! We interviewed the station manager, Ms. Lim Moy Ting to know more about their success story.

Q: When did you start promoting StarCard sign ups, and why did you start to believe in our StarCard direction?

A: In year 2019, I attended a refresher training at Pen Petroleum office. That was the first time I was exposed thoroughly to the idea of driving sales via StarCard program. Right after the training, I immediately tried to execute StarCard solicitation at my station. I would say, I did not have any special strategy except for persistently upselling the benefits of StarCard to potential customers. As days go by, my customers’ awareness about StarCard increased and it was them whom then proactively came back to me to check out more information about StarCard. At that moment, I know that StarCard solicitation works.

Q: What motivates you to continue soliciting StarCard customer?

A: I trust that StarCard can bring numerous benefits to my customer. For instance, StarCard brings convenience. Our customers do not need to track their fleet claims manually. They are able to monitor and control their company vehicle’s fuel expenditure easily. On top of that, StarCard gives rebate to its users. When my customers shared that StarCard had helped their business in many ways, I have great sense of satisfaction! Of course, most importantly, it helped to increase our station diesel sales. That keeps me going.

Q: How do you retain your StarCard customers?

A: Good customer service is the basic factor. To encourage our StarCard customers to come re-fueling at our station, we will reward them with some extended service. As an example, we help customers to keep their StarCard safe in our custody, ensuring that the StarCard is not abused by their company drivers. We also took the opportunity to sign up new Journey™ Card for the customers so that they won’t miss any chance to earn BPoints when their drivers pump at our station. Essentially, when you deliver good customer service, your customer will choose to pump with you.

Q: Why did you prefer your customer to sign up StarCard rather than local account?

A: By signing up StarCard customer, it really helped us to ease a lot of administrative work. We are able to avoid ineffective work such as manually managing local account statements and records – all that has been automated by StarCard system. In addition, we do not have to worry about bad debts by local account customers. We let our manpower to focus on customer service instead.
